A LONG TIME FAVOURITE THAT JUST KEEPS CONSISTENTLY PRODUCING GOOD WINE.
Jack's Comments: Having seen the latest addition of the "James Halliday Wine Companion" I recently tasted this wine again, as it had been a while. This wine scored 90 points in the book and I must say I totally agree. Wow what a great Shiraz this is! It is everything I like in a shiraz. It has slight hints of dark chocolate with wonderful aroma's, magnificent ripe berry fruit flavours and well balanced ripe tannins at the end of the palate for a slight spicey medium to long finish. It is an outstanding example of a good solid shiraz! You must taste this wine if you like your shiraz! This is an outstanding drink and it will age beautifully and could be scary on how good it could become!
Winemaker's Comments: Luscious lifted varietal aromas of ripe plum, licorice and violets. Subtle characters of dark chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg and cedar add complexity to the aroma. The palate has an elegant palate while being rich and generous in fruit. Ripe plum and licorice primary fruit characters are evident throughout the palate. CHARDONNAY AT IT'S BEST
Jack's Comments: This wine shows a very intense aroma with perfect tropical fruit. You get butter and creamy flavours with a good balance of citrus and oak flavors that are not over powering. The finish is sharp and clean. Overall it is a good young Chardonnay that is drinking well now and will get better.
Winemaker's Comments: The wine is luscious and mouth filling. It has sweetish fruit flavours of peach, nectarine and citrus through and a creamy texture derived from the extended lees stirring post fermentation. Oak fermentation and maturation is obvious with a rich cashew character running throughout the palate. The wine has good acidity which balances the viscosity of the palate well. The finish is clean and crisp.

2006 Taylors Promised Land Cabernet Merlot

SCORED 89 POINTS IN 2009 JAMES HALLIDAY!
Jack's Comments: This wine was a real surprise to me. I was not expecting much thinking it will be just one of your stock standard cabernet blends. I am actually amazed at the quality and depth of the wine. They have done a excellent job on the blend with each varietal complementing each other perfectly! You first get subtle hints of licorice and spicy characters on the nose. It is a fantastic balanced wine that is of medium body with plenty of fresh fruit and solid blackcurrant flavors mixed with fine tannins. It is then the wine takes a turn to the merlot which softens out the palate with smooth plum flavors ending with a lingering spicy finish. Great Wine!!
Winemaker's Comments: Deep red with youthful, purple rim. The palate presents a firm, structured wine of medium body with ample, fleshy fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon leads, giving generous ripe blackcurrant fruit characters and firm tannins which lay down the immediate structure of the wine. The Merlot then follows, with softer, fleshy plum and black cherry flavours, filling out the mid-palate. The wine then delivers a satisfyingly focused and spicy finish.
