5 Star Value Rating: Rating: 90/100 Category: Red Wines Case Size: 12 bottles Year: 2008 Jack's Comments: This wine comes from one of the best wine makers Australia has produced. Gavin Hogg has been in the wine making business for over 30 years and in that time has won the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophy with Jamisons Run and a countless number of gold medals, trophies and awards. This is another excellent wine he has produced and it really is drink very well. It is a softer style shiraz that has plenty of character that is displaying handfuls of dark berry fruit with light amounts of sweet ripe cherry. It has a nice element of spice that entices that palate and leaves you wanting more. The tannins are fine and delicate and make for a smooth lingering finish. A super wine for the price! Winemaker's Comments: Winemaker Gavin Hogg has blended this Shiraz from carefully selected wines made from grapes grown on the outstanding sandy loam soils over limestone in ideal strategic sites throughout Victoria, Australia.
The wine shows spicy ripe cherry plum flavours with a lingering astringency. Still a youthful wine, it will develop into a softer, richer, more complex individual as time goes on. Should peak at around 2010. Blend: Shiraz Region: Mildura, Victoria Cellaring Potential: peak drinking 2010-2012
