5 Star Value Rating: Rating: 92/100 Category: Red Wines Case Size: 12 bottles Year: 2008 Jack's Comments: Well I have to say this wine is a little gem. The brand has gone missing in recent times but I have to say that this Cabernet is drinking extremely well, you will not find a single varietal Cabernet from Coonawarra drinking better in this price range. I tasted this wine last Friday afternoon and it was the standout from everything I tasted. I even took it home with me and finished it on Saturday. It was even better after being allowed to breathe. It has stunning blackcurrant / blackbery flavours that arouse the palate, whilst a lovely roasted coffebean taste that arrives late with silky smooth tannins. I really enjoyed this wine! Winemaker's Comments: In Keeping with its French name meaning ‘Red Man’, Rouge Homme wines are reminiscent of those from the Bordeaux region. Founded in the Coonawarra By the Redman Family in 1954, Rouge Homme sources fruit from
vineyards in South Australia’s Limestone Coast region, including Robe and Coonawarra. Known throughout Australia for it's red wines, the Rouge Homme range includes Shiraz Cabernet, Cabernet Merlot and a single varietal Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Rouge Homme Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is a medium-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon displaying sweet blackberry and tobacco leaf aromas, leading to an elegant palate of emerging coffee bean flavours enhanced by fine tannins and vanillin oak. Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 14.5% alch vol. Region: Coonawarra, SA Cellaring Potential: Drinks well now but could cellar for 2-3 years
