5 Star Value Rating: Rating: 90/100 Category: Sparkling Wines Case Size: 12 bottles Year: NV Jack's Comments: Deakin Estate Azahara Brut Chardonnay Pinot Noir is a great drinking sparkling from a company who is making a lot of effort into making great wine, we have noticed that the standard of wine across the range has improved a lot. The sparkling wine market is as good as its ever been at the minute and this wine is showing super value. It has just won the best sparkling wine in the 2010 edition of Quaff. It is showing alot of intense yeastiness and is young and fresh. The finish is lively and crisp and this really is a super sparkling that should sell for alot more! Winemaker's Comments: Deakin Estate Azahara Brut Chardonnay Pinot Noir
Pale straw with fine persistent bead.Fresh and delicate aromas of pears, melon and baked apples with light biscuity yeast characters.
A generous mid palate with lingering, creamy soft fruit flavours and a refreshingly crisp finish. Blend: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir Region: Murray Darling Cellaring Potential: enjoy now Awards/Trophies: James Halliday, The Weekend Australian, 11/10/2007
Ten years ago a sparkling wine at this price point would have been made form anything but Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and not been estate-grown. This has a surprisingly fine bead (or mousse) and is clean and fresh, with citrus and stonefruit (from the chardonnay) to the fore. The balance is good, the touch of sweetness is what the market wants.
