Reisling

Pronounced: rees-ling

History: Germany is the traditional home of riesling where it is usually made into a sweet wine. In Australia it is generally made to a dry wine.

Description: The term ‘reisling’ usually means a dry or medium dry white wine made from a blend of white grape varieties not necessarily including Rhine reisling. The wines are normally light to medium bodied and display it's primary fruit characters well. Riesling is made dry to semi sweet and blends well with the floral variety Traminer.

Taste/Aromas: is citrus, lemon, lime, acidic, almost mineral.

Regions: Riesling is grown in the southern, cooler climates of Australia - Western Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia including the Clare Valley, Eden Valley and Barossa Valey

Cellaring: Can be cellared but perfect when drunk young

Food: Excellent with seafood and white meats such as chicken. Thai Malaysian, Chinese, salads, simple seafoods, Veal Pork, Ham
